Designed for You by Trapping Professionals
The Havahart® Medium 2-Door Live Animal Trap is designed by trapping experts to be the most effective, reliable, and durable trap of its kind. It's fine-tuned to specially target medium-weight critters and eliminate false triggers. Its spring-loaded doors are effective and prevent escape. What's more, the trap is extra-long, providing enough space for lengthy critters such as possums to fully enter the trap before tripping it closed.
Simple to Operate
You don't have to be a pro to use this extra-long Havahart® trap. Its design allows trappers of all experience levels to capture, transport, and release animals like skunks and opossums with ease. Check out our How To Set video to see how simple the trap is to operate.
Safe for You and the Animal
For You: A handle guard and solid metal doors protect you from contact with the animal, and the carrying handle allows you to hold the trap away from your body while an animal is inside.
For the Animal: Strong door locks keep animals safely in the cage, and smooth, rolled edges prevent anxious critters from injuring themselves during transport.
A Two-Door Trap is Fast and Versatile
A two-door trap creates a clear path from one end of the trap to the other. Place this two-door trap against a wall or along an animal's path in order to capture it as it travels from either direction. In order to access the bait and get to the other end, the animal must step on the trigger plate, resulting in a catch. Two-door traps can also be set with only one door, giving you the ability to try different methods of capture.

I purchased this identical model about 45 years ago and still use that trap which is far superior to the recent one I purchased. The pan on the new trap has been greatly reduced in size and is not sensitive enough to trip the doors easily. To make the pan sensitive at all you must barely attach it to trigger, which explains why other reviews note the bait is being stolen which is what has happened to me so far. The suggestion to put the bait under the trap seems to acknowledge trigger problems.Response From Havahart®Lauren : Consumer Relations Representative
When baiting, it is recommended to either tie the bait to the trap or dig a small hole and place the bait inside with the trap on top. Using these methods of baiting will greatly reduce bait theft as it forces the animal to work harder for the bait and to interact with the trigger plate of the trap. If an animal is able to grab the bait without engaging the trip plate, the trap will not trigger.

Review RateSonic gopher, mole, and ground squirrels goneI was very weary of this things. Seeing is believing! Last year could not feed birds and yard torn to threads. No more, they are at least 150 yards from device.
It works Folks!
Review RateIt worksRuby bought this trap to catch some feral kittens that showed up. It worked great. It even worked too good. She caught three of them in one day. The're in the bathroom until old enough to take down to the vet to have them spayed and nuetered. Review RateBaiting RabbitsOur nuisance pests are rabbits which have stripped ALL of my wife's flowers, including the marigolds! I selected the Havahart 1040 for its less intimidating, pass-through 2-door configuration, greater length, and the greater adjustability of its manual setting mechanism. After many days of an empty trap tucked in the shrubbery, full of un-touched apple scraps, I looked more widely online for other suggestions. I read elsewhere that it is futile to try to bait rabbits and best to hide a 2-door trap in a run. Interesting, and maybe useful somewhere else, but there are no runs here. Instead, I baited with "baby" carrots, halved lengthwise so they wouldn't roll off the trigger plate, plus a couple enticingly strewn in each approach. The trap was placed in the open on the patio where I had watched a rabbit hop about early other mornings, a cedar shingle under one corner to prevent it from rocking. Twice the carrots were all gone and the trap unsprung, after leaving it barely half "set" the second time. This morning I watched a rabbit sniff contentedly all the way through the trap, never touching the trigger plate. I grabbed two more baby carrots and placed them UNDER the trigger plate. That did the trick! He returned and barely started to nuzzle for a carrot when it tripped. He has been relocated, and the trap reset the same way in case there are more. Baiting rabbits works just fine, as does the 1040 trap, thank you very much!
Review RateBest for trapping skunks!Nice and low, keeps them from spraying. I moved two pesky skunks with this trap, and also some annoying squirrels. This is an excellent multi-use trap.
