Corral small nuisance animals safely and humanely with this Havahart® X-Small 2-door trap. This 10 x 3 x 3-inch animal trap is best for mice, voles, and shrews and is made of sturdy, rust-resistant galvanized steel for strength and repeated use.
Created by Trapping Professionals
This X-Small 2-door animal trap has been tested in the field and designed by animal trapping experts. It's built to target and trap small animals like mice, shrews, and voles easily, as the intelligent construction ensures small animals can't outsmart or avoid it. A sensitive trip plate can successfully capture the smallest animals, and the mesh openings are small, ensuring bait isn't stolen.
Easy Operation
Find a place for the trap in an area the animal seems to frequent, such as areas of your yard or garden they are digging up.
Camouflage the trap slightly with surrounding debris, such as dirt, grass, leaves, or twigs.
Place a bit of nuts or seeds around the outside of the trap to entice these small animals and encourage them to walk inside.
Next, dig a small hole underneath the trap for placing bait. You can also place bait under the trigger. Wherever it's placed, it ensures the animal has to work harder to access the food, making it more likely they'll trip the spring mechanism.
Set the trap with the doors open and wait to catch your critter.
Safe Trapping Solution for You and the Animal
The solid doors and hand guards on this Havahart® X-Small 2-Door Trap help protect you from making contact with the tiny varmint inside. For the animal, strong doors keep them safe inside the cage and the smooth, rolled internal edges prevent them from injuring themselves if they become anxious and attempt to escape.
2-Door Construction is Effective and Versatile
A 2-door animal trap lets you create a clear path through the trap from one side to the other and provides a clear line of sight for the animal, increasing the odds of a successful capture. Place it against a wall or along a critter's path to ensure you can trap them from either direction.
Multi-use animal traps from Havahart® are designed with premium galvanized steel that's corrosion and rust-resistant, ensuring they withstand weather conditions and any potential struggling an animal might attempt.

Too small to easily get hand in to put food in and wire it in, or even without wiring it in the food falls off the shelf easily.
On the outside, the two wires that touch each other to set off the trap need to be flattened else they slide off too easily by just gently setting the trap down. And one was flattened on the non-contact side. So, you have basically very carefully balance two rounded wires that are EXTREMELY touchy to try to set.
The doors need to have a spring closure so that if the cage rolls with the rat, mouse jumping and rolling to try to get out, the doors won't flop open and let the animal out. Once a rat is caught once, it is smart enough to never go back, in my opinion.
The cage is too small for a full grown rat or a warf rat.
I plan to return the two cages. I have a least one rat that currently is doing a tremendous amount of damage and soiling everything. I needed a quick turn-around solution.
My only alternative for today is to purchase construction mesh and wire it around the squirrel cages that I had purchased previously, which the screening is too large for a small rat or mouse.
I am using my cell phone for this review. An annoying "sign up now" message is interfering with the screen and I cannot make it go away. Secondly, when I first came onto the website, an annoying two different screen popped up, stopping my search. One popup was for cookies, which did not give me a choice of saying no.
Thank you for this feedback. We have shared these comments and concerns with our Product Manager for review. The trap is designed to catch small rodents such as mice.

Highly recommend! We had 2 rats tear open a bag of dog food in our garage and begin nesting. Ruined everything from my snowboarding boots to Christmas decorations. We cleared out the garage, and set this trap against a wall with dog food and caught both of them within 24 hours. We had caught one of them earlier and then went to set the trap down on our stairs and accidentally popped the door up, and she escaped. So be careful when setting it down. But we quickly caught her the next night and her little friend 12 hours later. We took out ALL sources of food and nesting from our garage, and with it being winter and the only food was in the trap, they fell for it easily. Both were released in a wooded area far from home with aspen bedding, a biodegradable box for shelter, and some food. Havaheart makes it easy for animal lovers like me to safely capture and release multiple pesky critters.
What a waste of money!! I've set it out 3 days in a row and each time it failed. The tripping mechanism is too sensitive. It would trip and close the doors with very minimal effort. Even a wind gust would trip it!! DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!
We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. Due to the size of the animals this trap is intended to catch, it is very sensitive, and we recommend placing it in the location you intend on using it before setting it. Took me a long time to get the traps set. Instructions less than helpful and YouTube video as well of no help. Set all 3 with peanut butter bait, After 3 days no catches, one trap tripped on its own, bait still in it. Found one vole flatted by a car in the driveway. May take longer than I expected.
I am sorry to hear that! Please give us a call at 855-542-8242 for further assistance!

I have used Havahart products for years because they are dependable and humane. I live in the woods and these products enable a stress-free co-existence with the various creatures around me. I am a life-long customer.
Baited the trap 3 times yesterday evening. Mouse escaped all 3 times. There are huge openings in the top and the door doesn't close all the way despite a lot of time trying to get the wire exactly right.
Thank you for sharing this feedback. We are sorry to learn about this recent experience with this trap. It is covered under a 30 day return policy. Reach out to us at 1-855-542-8242 for assistance.

I bought three traps as we found three holes in the yard where our critter enters/exits its den. I set them up but never caught the pests. The traps were subject to closing if the cage was bumped and I assume the critter either bumped the frame or another animal like a squirrel may have bumped the cage.
We're sorry to learn about this recent experience. The trap is designed to be sensitive for smaller animals. It can also be set with only a single door open. If the trap is constantly tripped with no catch, a larger version may be needed.

I haven’t caught the mouse after two weeks of trying. He just doesn’t go in. Plus, the company charged me almost the cost of the product for shipping!
Thank you for sharing this feedback. We are sorry to learn that there has not yet been a catch. We recommend placing the trap in areas of rodent activity and using a bait such as seeds or peanut butter to lure the mouse inside.
We appreciate this concerns regarding our shipping and use standard UPS rates.

I've used these traps for years for mice and voles. They last a long time and always catch the culprits. I don't even bait them. Just set them in the varmints path.
I've used these traps for years for mice and squirrels. They last forever and do at they're supposed to do. I have mice and squirrels with good reflexes so I have to set them with one door open so they have to go all the way in to get the bait. With both doors open I've watched squirrels reach in for the bait hear the click when it releases and beat the door closing going out. Talk about good reflexes.`
