I purchased the one door small live trap and was happy with how well it worked until I lost the trigger rod. I checked with Havaheart and they do not sell any replacements parts. Since there are no replacement parts available the trap is now worthless. This seems to be a common problem for Havaheart customers.
Does not work as well as the all metal units.
The plastic parts cause binding of the trap and trigger assembly.
I would purchase the original all metal traps.
I have trusted Havahart for years of rescue. I am sad to say this trap is worthless. Complete piece of junk, no customer service. I am disappointed that a company I have always trusted is selling something so poorly designed.
the plastic piece on the door trip hammer (a side piece to the cage) does not stay in place and therefore can fall out.
the company apparently does not replace this piece so the cage becomes worthless
I caught many squirrels with the previous model, which was slightly larger and had a different mechanism to set the door bar. But this new model broke after my first attempt! As shown in the photo, the first squirrel simply pulled down the door in order to escape via the gap where my fingers are.
This particular product is absolute garbage!! I used to look for this brand name w/ confidence, no more. The trigger rod on this model is a joke, absolutely begs to be knocked off and lost forever. Why design something so poorly? I mean, they're wildlife traps!! They're going to get banged up as is!! I have no need for trash designs that are meant to fail to keep wasting my money!!
Trap works great. Trigger rod design is lousy. Falls off after the trap is tripped and is now missing. I want to replace it but that seems impossible through the manufacturer (havahart). Stuck with a trap that, except for the trigger rod design, is good but now useless. Hmm. Anybody at the company listening??
Trap mechanism won't spring, latch arm won't stay put and falls off with movement, the thing thenlatch connects to is not stable so door does not stay open. I have used countless styles of havahart traps but this is just trash. Returning both.
I, too, lost the trigger arm. From Havahart admin, I see the response to the concern, "Unfortunately, parts are not available for our traps". Unfortunately, I will be buying any future traps from your competitor.
Do you sell parts for this? Specifically the separate rod on the outside that connects the trap door to the lever on the plate.

How do you set up he 1026 trap

Please follow the steps below to set this trap -
1. Turn the Door Lock to the open position.
2. Holding the door open, place the bait behind the Trip Plate.
3. Remove the Trigger Rod from the top of the trap. Attach the plastic end to the Trigger Rod Connection.
4. Press down on the assembled Trigger Rod. Meanwhile, lift the Trip Plate Trigger and gently position the flat end of the Trigger Rod under the Trip Plate Trigger so the door is held open and the Trip Plate is level.
5. Close the Door Lock by resting it on top of the door.

My door is misaligned, (something got in it and turned it over and busted out) and the spring on the back is loose, and the door is crooked . Can you please tell me where the spring should be and how to realign the door

Where can I get a Haveahart Model #1026 Door Trip/Trigger? Its the only loose piece to the cage and I apparently let it loose.
