Definitely the "better mousetrap"! Bought two different types from another brand and the mice ate the bait and got out again. This one is inescapable and our little brown friends got taken from our home to a nice place in the woods a couple of miles away. Hole in the foundation found and closed and problem solved!

Bought the x small trap to get a shrew out of the house. It was caught within 30 minutes. In all fairness, we had managed to trap the shrew in a small room so it didn't need to go far to take the bait. But still, it works!! It did take me awhile to figure out how to set it. The videos online aren't helpful.

This is hands down the best trap I have ever purchased. Once one mouse has been trapped in it, often the smell of the former mouse attacks the next without any bate. I have lost count how many mice it has help me catch in my garages.

As many videos as we have watched showing how to set this trap (including one from Havahart), we cannot get it to work with both doors open. Either the instructions are not clear, or we have a trap that was not properly made.

Not a fan. I've been trapping with all size Havahart traps for 60 years. All very effective and humane. The problem with this trap is it's fabric used for the cage. It's punched metal and is sharp edge. When I trap my adorable kangaroo rat, he sticks his nose through and bleeds, left for an hour or two, mortality.

I have mice in my attic. After having mice chew through and ruin the trip mechanism in six plastic humane traps, I decided to try the Havahart metal trap. It is a bit touchier to set (which probably adds to its effectiveness) and it takes an extra minute longer to clean, but this is the absolute best trap I have ever used. I had tried a bucket "tip trap' and caught a mouse about four days out of seven, but the Havahart has caught a mouse every time I set it. Every time. It has never injured the mouse's tail like the plastic traps occasionally did. It allows the mouse to breathe and doesn't get all steamy like the plastic traps. Once you get the hang of setting it, it's a breeze. I am very pleased with this trap and it certainly lives up to the Havahart name.

Too small to easily get hand in to put food in and wire it in, or even without wiring it in the food falls off the shelf easily. On the outside, the two wires that touch each other to set off the trap need to be flattened else they slide off too easily by just gently setting the trap down. And one was flattened on the non-contact side. So, you have basically very carefully balance two rounded wires that are EXTREMELY touchy to try to set. The doors need to have a spring closure so that if the cage rolls with the rat, mouse jumping and rolling to try to get out, the doors won't flop open and let the animal out. Once a rat is caught once, it is smart enough to never go back, in my opinion. The cage is too small for a full grown rat or a warf rat. I plan to return the two cages. I have a least one rat that currently is doing a tremendous amount of damage and soiling everything. I needed a quick turn-around solution. My only alternative for today is to purchase construction mesh and wire it around the squirrel cages that I had purchased previously, which the screening is too large for a small rat or mouse. I am using my cell phone for this review. An annoying "sign up now" message is interfering with the screen and I cannot make it go away. Secondly, when I first came onto the website, an annoying two different screen popped up, stopping my search. One popup was for cookies, which did not give me a choice of saying no.

Highly recommend! We had 2 rats tear open a bag of dog food in our garage and begin nesting. Ruined everything from my snowboarding boots to Christmas decorations. We cleared out the garage, and set this trap against a wall with dog food and caught both of them within 24 hours. We had caught one of them earlier and then went to set the trap down on our stairs and accidentally popped the door up, and she escaped. So be careful when setting it down. But we quickly caught her the next night and her little friend 12 hours later. We took out ALL sources of food and nesting from our garage, and with it being winter and the only food was in the trap, they fell for it easily. Both were released in a wooded area far from home with aspen bedding, a biodegradable box for shelter, and some food. Havaheart makes it easy for animal lovers like me to safely capture and release multiple pesky critters.

They work great, have caught mice, voles, and small birds. The nice thing about the trap is you just let the birds out unharmed.

These traps got the mouse that had invaded our home. We released him back into the wild after a few days. Did its job great!
