Reviews for Havahart® X-Large 1-Door Animal Trap

Trap is advertised to catch Armadillos and it does. But it won't hold one. Caught one in my new trap and it took just two minutes for it to destroy the door and escape. Trap is now beyond repair. Shame on HavaHeart for selling this false item.

The animal I trapped was able to easily escape. I have a fox that has been trying to kill my chickens. After a few days, I was able to lure him in and trap him in this XL cage trap, but he escaped shortly after I caught him by breaking the rear of the trap wide open. The flimsy metal clips holding the cage together were scattered around on the ground around the rear of the trap. I had a trail camera set on the trap, and I caught him at just after 4 AM and he was able to break out and was gone when I came to relocate him shortly after 6 AM. The fox was only about the size of a large house cat and will now be much harder if not impossible to trap, making my problem worse. I've used the smaller models of Havahart traps for years and have never had any issues like this. It's sad that the quality has declined so much on these traps. I called and Havahart says they will replace the trap, which is nice, but at this time, they are out of stock without any idea when they'll be back, and they won't backorder them for a replacement. They suggested that I either watch their website for when they're back in stock to call back or return the trap to Home Depot instead.

Beaver ALMOST took the bait but tore the trap door off. Now I need to figure how to put the door back together so I can try it again. Maybe second time I will be lucky...

Good quality heavy duty trap that can handle LARGE coons that can and will destroy a lesser duty trap. Had to tweek the trigger a little on one to get it to trip easier (not a problem).

very disapointed in the quality of this trap. the first coon I caught and transported tore the gate off. i did rebuild with heavy materials. definatly not the same quality as my old havahart trap (MAYBE 40 YEARS OLD).
