Trip connector broken cannot operate trap

The trap has sharp edges around the entry door. Razor sharp. For the price paid, it should have been de-burred.

bought this trap and the animal escaped after setting it the first time. animal push the trap open and went into my attic. The lock is not very good. The design needs to be redone and the mechanism needs to be changed for locking.

You need to revise the suitability of this trap. An armadillo tore mine up and escaped. Your site says this trap is suitable for armadillos. It isn’t and now I am not sure it can be repaired to work.

I have two of your large animal traps - one a few decades old, and one brand new. I set the new trap last night for the first time, and found out this morning that the raccoon that was obviously in it overpowered the latch to the spring arm and escaped. Upon comparing the two traps, it’s obvious the new one was never going to keep a raccoon in it for very long. It’s been cheapened in materials, but not in cost. Looks like I’m fixing the old one…

my trap works great except i lost the spring for the door lock down bar ? shouldnt lend it out i guess ??? where can i get a replacement or maybe even the newer style ?

Bought this same trap as 1 from 20 years ago but it doesn't work as well. I have lost 2 out of 3 coons so far. The latch doesn't drop down far enough when the door shuts so all they have to do is keep banging the bottom of the door until the trap door rod slips past the latch. The depth of the latch isn't deep enough like the old trap to keep the door from being opened. I originally bought the $50 one that said was made in China and they broke it the 1st night so I took it back and bought the one make in USA hoping for better results since it was 40% more. Guess I will have to reengineer this to see if I can make it work better like the old one!!! Old one is 100% unless it gets tipped over, this one 33% so far!!! I'll see what I can do and report on the possible fix and results. Tried to add a picture but said it was too large.

We have purchased these over the past years to aid the community in TNR efforts, they are used time and time again and really hold up well. Thanks to Havahart for a well built product.

The traps are great, however, there is a mechanism that keeps the door open. It's a small part but is the one thing that breaks on the trap over time. The rest of the trap holds up well, except this one part. It would be nice is we could buy that part to repair the trap.

The Havahart set-up puurfectly! BUT the cat was wise to it and only was willing to eat the trail of food leading up to the entrance. I had to set it up in the daytime. At night there is too much of a chance to catch a raccoon or a possum or even a skunk.
