Bought this trap for catching feral cats. Cat was able to push the door far out enough from the inside to squeeze out and escape. There's no good way to zip tie the door closed to ensure this doesn't happen.

Caught a racoon last night - after having a fit inside the trap the racoon was able to escape via the trap door. The trap door lock does not have enough strength to hold the animal inside the trap. Others seem to have reported similar issues. Do not buy

Dangerous releasing animals: Door latch only has a spring on one side not fully engaging the latch. When releasing a porcupine he managed to jostle the latch open and burst out of the door about a foot off the ground. Fortunately he ran away and I was not quilled. I think Havahart was cheap and did not add the second spring putting us at risk. As an engineer I have designed and ordered these type of springs and ordered in bulk they cost less than $3 ea.

Squirrels had become very destructive in our 1/3 acre yard, located in a suburban neighborhood. They were digging in our plant pots, biting branches off trees, attacking our bird feeder, chewing our lawn furniture, and just making a mess. We borrowed a friend's Havahart trap, figuring if we could relocate a few, it would minimize the damage they were causing. We used peanut butter as glue and walnuts as bait. I know this is going to sound like I'm making it up, but I swear that in a little over 2 months, we trapped and relocated 38 squirrels!! And we have peace in our yard again!! Midway through the two months, we bought our own trap so we could return the one we had borrowed. No question about it, the trap REALLY works! It's super easy to set, use, and transport. *Note: We did get one skunk, which was interesting - we covered the trap with a blanket and carefully released the door and let him go without running the risk of him spraying while being transported. Thankfully we haven't seen him again. We quickly learned not to leave it set overnite when skunks are most active!!

My favorite trap. I call it my Magic Trap Have used the Easy Set for many years. This style has never failed to catch our hardest ones. And being an Easy Set it is nothing to pull the handle back to set the trap rather than deal with a side hook. Would love to see Havahart make a 2-door.

Do NOT buy this trap if you are going to trap anything more than a pet. We have worked for weeks to trap an aggressive cat that took residence on our farm. We finally got him. As I was loading the cat into the car to relocate the animal, it hit the trap door hard and it opened and the cat escaped. Now that he has escaped my only alternative is to use more lethal means to take care of our problem. I am very angry and extremely disappointed in this trap design.

Caught the raccoon but when i lifted him up to put in my truck he blew the backside of the cage out and ran away, this cage is not strong enough!

I like the easy set feature but the problem is the position of the trip plate is too far forward. The bait kept getting eaten but the trap was not trading the racoon. I set up a game camera an the racoon was not pressing the trip plate. He was stopping just before the plate an extending his neck to eat the bait. The trip plate needs to be set in the middle of the trap like the 2 door trap they sell. That one always works.

Love it, Easy to operate.I ordered it because I used one like it but the other one had a door on the other end which comes in handy but otherwise works great for our animal rescue. Thanks.

Had coons getting into my sweet corn. Ordered a Havahart trap sized for coon,s possums, etc. Caught 18 coons, 3 possums, and 4 cats. Relocated all of them at a distance from my corn. Trap worked wonderfully and is no worse for wear.
