The trap works fine for cats after a long time of trial and error adjusting the trigger but not anything larger. I trapped a raccoon, he tore the trap up trying to escape, which he did get away
! Now it's useless and a waste of money! I agree with all the other negative reviews. Do not buy!

We’re sorry to hear about your experience with the Havahart® Easy Set® Large 1-Door Animal Trap. This trap is designed for secure captures, but proper setup is important for reliable performance. Make sure the trigger rod is seated correctly and the trap is on level ground to prevent it from tripping too easily. If raccoons are pushing the door open, placing a small weight or rock on top of the trap can help keep it secure once triggered. We appreciate your feedback and will share your comments with our product team for review.
I’d give this 0 stars ...

I’d give this 0 stars if it were an option. After catching a large raccoon, the trap wouldn’t release and let me open the door. The steel cable eventually pulled out of the piece where it attaches to the handle. I had to manually open the door which was why I bought this trap…didn’t want to get my hands near the animal. Now they tell me they don’t sell replacement parts??? $80 down the drain. I’ve got a 2 year old trap That is now useless. Havahart lost a loyal customer.
DON'T BUY HAVAHART TRAPS!!!!!!!

DON'T BUY HAVAHART TRAPS!!!!!!! They don't make replacement parts so when the little lever that sets the trap gets lost you have to buy a NEW TRAP. That is TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE and NOT WORTHY of customer support. They could at least include an extra or or have a way to connect it ti the trap so it doesn't get lost.
After less than 1 year and already the trap is broken
Aug 4, 2025
After less than 1 year, I caught TWO rabbits and had to pay $140.00 CDN for this trap and the plastic that the trip wire is connected to, split. $70 per rabbit. I believe you have ZERO warranty. I expect this from Chinese products but NOT anything made in the USA. Very disappointed to have wasted my money. Your 'drop to add files' will NOT even except a photo that is less then 3MB. The plastic part is not attached with small bolts so I could be replaced. So I have to JUNK the whole trap.
The critters can immediately escape ...

The critters can immediately escape from this trap! I was right there as soon as the trap closed. I had a feral cat that I was trying to catch to TNR that was able to quickly get out of the trap, and he never returned! Another time, a woodchuck wiggled right out of it. I bought 2 of these from Lowe's, and they are completly useless. I DO NOT RECOMMEND! Complete waste of money! I will never buy another Havahart product again! I encourage Lowe's to stop carrying them.
Terrible!

Terrible! Don't waste your money. I bought two of these traps for armadillos as the website indicated they were "best used for armadillos" among several other animals. They easily forced the trap doors open bending the doors and latching mechanism rods ...and ruining the traps in the process. Havahart should be ashamed to sell such an inferior product,

Bought this trap for catching feral cats. Cat was able to push the door far out enough from the inside to squeeze out and escape. There's no good way to zip tie the door closed to ensure this doesn't happen.

Caught a racoon last night - after having a fit inside the trap the racoon was able to escape via the trap door. The trap door lock does not have enough strength to hold the animal inside the trap. Others seem to have reported similar issues. Do not buy
Dangerous releasing animals: Door latch ...
Nov 17, 2024
Dangerous releasing animals: Door latch only has a spring on one side not fully engaging the latch. When releasing a porcupine he managed to jostle the latch open and burst out of the door about a foot off the ground. Fortunately he ran away and I was not quilled. I think Havahart was cheap and did not add the second spring putting us at risk. As an engineer I have designed and ordered these type of springs and ordered in bulk they cost less than $3 ea.
