Trapping Has Never Been Easier

Controlling wild raccoons, armadillos and other destructive animals has never been easier than with Easy Set® traps. Patented Havahart® technology allows you to set your trap with just one hand and in one quick motion. Easy Set® also allows you to release a trapped animal safely from the back of the trap - you never have to touch the door or come near the animal. Plus, updated sturdy hardware provides additional comfort, security and durability.

Set and Release with One Hand

This trap can be set in just 1 simple step. Just pull back the patented Easy Set® lever to open the door, and it's ready for a catch. Enlarged Hand Guard and Carrying Handle Protect You

An enlarged steel plate covers the entire width of the top of the trap, protecting your hand from contact with the animal. Additionally, the rigid plastic carrying handle gives you better control and provides more comfort when handling large animals.

Safe, Rolled Metal Edges that Protect the Animal

Easy Set® traps are constructed of one-piece wire mesh, galvanized for resistance to rust and corrosion. The edges are polished smooth to protect the animal from injuring itself during transport.

No-Escape Door Locks Give You Peace of Mind

Our strong spring-loaded door features an updated lock with added reinforcements, making your groundhog trap more escape-proof than ever.

colossal disappointment By Steve

Door is so sensitive, trap springs at the lightest disturbance. The mesh has large enough openings that the raccoons can reach through the side to remove bait.

Jennifer : Consumer Relations Representative

We are sorry to hear of this experience! To help stretch out the cables, we recommend forcefully pulling the handle back several times until the trap stays open on its own without tripping.

Tying the bait from the roof of the trap above the trigger plate or burying the bait under the trap works well to ensure the raccoon fully enters the trap. We also recommend placing the trap in a covered area and on an even surface.

Good trap By RON

I actually think this is a very good trap. However when you get the trap I suggest you take a picture of how the spring is connected to the lever that holds the door shut after the trap is sprung... it also ensures the door closes quickly after it is sprung. It came off and I could not for the life of me figure how it went back on so I improvised. I glued/taped some heavy bolts to the arms of the levers that shut the door ( dont know the official term for them) and this seemed to have worked for a while. Now the animals are prying open the door after they are trapped and escaping so I am ordering a new trap. I am not upset because I have had this trap for a few years so I guess it is just wear and tear. This trap has caught everything under the sun (raccoons, oppossums, skunks, dogs, cats and yes even a hawk).

repeatability By bo

worked flawlessly again re baited the trap last night because the cat food bowl was overturned again, sure enough a second huge racoon. The only slight flaw was that it was able to pull in the chicken antibiotics through the holes in the side of the trap.

worked first time, best release mechanism By bo

I picked one up at princess auto in Ottawa where it was 30 bucks cheaper than out here in the country.I had a chicken who was being treated with antibiotics in a small shelter in the barn she was eviscerated and killed the night before. My old standby trap I have been using for the last 20 30 years is in the yard buried in snow and ice so I figured it would be easier to just get a new one.The older trap is a little awkward to use but it has trapped more than 100 raccoons, cats.skunks.It is a little hard to release the suspects when you have to prop the door open to get them out which is a little scarier when they are skunks. The new trap has the release handle which is a fantastic improvement makes removing inanimate raccoons so much easier. It actually worked the first night I got it the biggest raccoon i have ever trapped was in there growling at me.The holes in the mesh are sized perfectly for a .22 rifle barrel. My pet chickens thank you .

totally not satisfied By chris

twice raccoons have excaped thru the 'back' of the trap. the back panel of the trap was twisted in one case and lifted in another. i am going back to the old, 'fixed' model that is ready to go out of the box - not the folded model that must be put together. i can send photos of torqued trap.

more innovation and testing needed By Steve

I bought a model 1085 to trap a raccoon about tree years ago. The trap set in my attic until last week, when an armadillo needed to be trapped. Everything looked good until the next morning. The trap appeared to have been attacked by Godzilla. The trap door was severely bent and the door arm was bent almost in two. After spend- ing 2 hours repairing the trap, I noticed that the door had not seated itself properly. I also mounted 2 narrow steel bars on the trap door to seat the door more quickly and securely. Now the trap can function properly.

Great trap By Fred

Works great. Caught 3 raccoons the first week. Safe and easy to release animals. They do stink though so if you don't have a truck box you will have to have your windows open to transport them.

Did the job. Very pleased. By wavehunter

After getting a quote from a company to trap an opossum that was living under our home I decided to trap it myself. Ordered this trap and it came within a few days. Propped open the trap without bait for two nights. Another night with a small amount of dry cat food. Last night set it with bait and in the morning I had the possum. Trap worked great. Relocated the critter. Saved me a bunch of money. The Havaheart trap worked great. No malfunctions.

Q.I purchased a Large 1-door easy set trap (#1085), and even with a long pair of BBQ tongs, I can barely reach past the pressure plate to set bait. Is there a way to open the rear of the trap so I can more easily access the baiting area?

This trap opens in the front only. We appreciate the feedback and have shared the information with our Product Managers.

Q.My Easy-set cat trap works fine, but the spring in the drop down bar is shot. This means that the door does not stay shut after the cat is in the trap. Can this be remedied?

When the trap is triggered and door closes, the Door Lock should fall into place and prevent the door from being opened. We apologize for this experience and would like to learn more so we may better assist. Please feel free to contact our Consumer Relations Team at 1-855-5-HAVAHART (1-855-542-8242) with any questions.

Q.Setting up the trap is easy ..... catching a skunk. The hard part, tricky part is releasing the skunk. What trap do you recommend particularly for catching a skunk with the easiest release?

When a skunk has been caught, we recommend taking precautions to not startle the skunk and causing it to spray.

  • Carry a blanket in front of your body covering your shoulders to feet.
  • Speak softly while slowly and steadily approaching the trap, so the skunk is alerted to your presence.
  • Skunks do not generally spray what they can not see, so gently drape the sheet over the trap.
  • Handle the trap gently and move it slowly to relocate it at least 10 miles away (if laws permit).

A skunk will stomp its two front feet and raise its tail before turning to spray, so keep an eye out for these signs of distress.
