Best Used For:

Trapping Has Never Been Easier

Controlling wild raccoons, armadillos and other destructive animals has never been easier than with Easy Set® traps. Patented Havahart® technology allows you to set your trap with just one hand and in one quick motion. Easy Set® also allows you to release a trapped animal safely from the back of the trap - you never have to touch the door or come near the animal. Plus, updated sturdy hardware provides additional comfort, security and durability.

Set and Release with One Hand

This trap can be set in just 1 simple step. Just pull back the patented Easy Set® lever to open the door, and it's ready for a catch. Best of all, the lever also allows you to release the animal while standing away from the trap, clear of the animal's escape path. Check out our videos for more information.

Enlarged Hand Guard and Carrying Handle Protect You

An enlarged steel plate covers the entire width of the top of the trap, protecting your hand from contact with the animal. Additionally, the rigid plastic carrying handle gives you better control and provides more comfort when handling large animals.

Safe, Rolled Metal Edges that Protect the Animal

Easy Set® traps are constructed of one-piece wire mesh, galvanized for resistance to rust and corrosion. The edges are polished smooth to protect the animal from injuring itself during transport.

No-Escape Door Locks Give You Peace of Mind

Our strong spring-loaded door features an updated lock with added reinforcements, making your groundhog trap more escape-proof than ever.

Sensitivity Screw to Target Specific Sized Animals

This sensitivity screw allows you to tailor the trip force of the trap to the target animal. For small animals like opossums that require more sensitivity to trip the trap, turn the sensitivity screw to the left (-). Larger animals like raccoons need less sensitivity, so turn the screw to the right (+), generating a less sensitive trip action. The sensitivity screw gives you the opportunity to catch only the animals you want.

I have been using havahart traps for many years. even the older ones still work. I like the easy sets better, that is why I bought 2 more of them.

Easy to use, just need to catch something By Northern Gal

I baited the trap and waited. On the second night, the bait was gone but the trap was empty. More bait and waited some more. Few nights later, the trap was sprung, the bait was gone but the critter managed to escape. It's been a couple weeks now, and nothing is taking the bait.

Poor design By Steve

Poor product. Good customer service. Trap doesn't work. 2 months and caught 0 raccoons. Animals caught but they push and open cage on own. I have used other traps and caught over a 100 in 2 years. No good. They replaced this with a new different tap

Don't let the ease of this trap fool you. Although it's easy for a human to set up and release it does NOT lock all the time. I've had two feral cats escape the trap because the door does NOT lock all the way. The people at the spay and neuter clinic hate this type of trap as many of the clients have complaint about the same issue, cats escape and accidentally get released where they are not supposed to. We definitely do NOT recommend of the catch of cats.

It's possible the cat wasn't fully inside the trap when the door closed. We recommend setting the trap and testing it by reaching through the side with a pencil or a ruler. Does the door trip and lock? If so, the trap is working correctly.

We hope this information was helpful! Please feel free to contact our Consumer Relations Team at 1-855-5-HAVAHART (1-855-542-8242) with any questions or for additional assistance.

Overall satisfied By dont' have one

Got the raccoon on the second try. First time managed to steal the bait without setting trap off. Only problem was in removing the trap the locking bar for the door somehow became dislodged allowing him to open the trap and get out in my car. Hopefully this experience will discourage him from entering the attic again. Also, having 2 coon hounds trying to get to him in the trap didn't help in getting out of the house.

Disappointing “customer service” By TMS

Have had this easy set trap for a couple of years. Not cheap but convenient to set and release trapped critters. This spring I had a muskrat escape-very unusual for me. I noticed when the door came down the locking bail didn’t fully engage and the animal could push their way out. I found that the door spring had become weak and didn’t have enough Push to lock the trap. I tried to order a replacement but was told by “customer service” that they didn’t sell them! She was very nice and offered me a 15 percent discount on a new trap, however. A So instead of fixing this $70 plus dollar unit with a cheap little spring, they want me to buy a whole new trap. I have had Havahart traps for over 50 years since I was ten years old in 1960 when my dad got me one. This will be my last Havahart. I’ll be getting a live trap where the company stands by their product and long time customers.

Due to the way the traps are manufactured, replacement parts are not available for purchase. We apologize for this experience and appreciate the time taken to provide this feedback! The suggestion has been shared with our Product Managers.

No door latch feature By Dave R

The trap is easy to set and worked beautifully. I caught the feral cat, threw a large towel over the trap to calm it down, and placed it in the back seat of the car. The problem came at the veterinary clinic when I went to remove the trap from the car. As I picked the trap up by the handle, the towel tugged the 'easy-set' handle and it was like watching a thoroughbred launch from the starting gate...absolutely no resistance. 'Easy-set' also means easy, even accidental, release. There should be a locking mechanism to prevent this. Mine has one now. I got a piece of very heavy gauge wire and made a rod that will slide through the cage and goes across at the bottom of the door. Once the bent ends are hooked over the wire of the cage, nothing will raise the door. Perhaps Havahart will add this or another safety latch to these traps so that others will not have a similar experience to ours.

Great product and highly recommended. By Eileen

Havahart shipped my order quickly and I received this trap in 2 days time. It arrived in perfect condition and it worked like a charm. The first time I set it, I trapped an Opposum and the second setting I trapped a skunk. Both were relocated to distant locatios where they would be safer than under my patio in the city. The easy release feature is awesome, especially when releasing a skunk. I recommend this company and product.

colossal disappointment By Steve

Door is so sensitive, trap springs at the lightest disturbance. The mesh has large enough openings that the raccoons can reach through the side to remove bait.

Response From Havahart®
Jennifer : Consumer Relations Representative

We are sorry to hear of this experience! To help stretch out the cables, we recommend forcefully pulling the handle back several times until the trap stays open on its own without tripping.

Tying the bait from the roof of the trap above the trigger plate or burying the bait under the trap works well to ensure the raccoon fully enters the trap. We also recommend placing the trap in a covered area and on an even surface.

Good trap By RON

I actually think this is a very good trap. However when you get the trap I suggest you take a picture of how the spring is connected to the lever that holds the door shut after the trap is sprung... it also ensures the door closes quickly after it is sprung. It came off and I could not for the life of me figure how it went back on so I improvised. I glued/taped some heavy bolts to the arms of the levers that shut the door ( dont know the official term for them) and this seemed to have worked for a while. Now the animals are prying open the door after they are trapped and escaping so I am ordering a new trap. I am not upset because I have had this trap for a few years so I guess it is just wear and tear. This trap has caught everything under the sun (raccoons, oppossums, skunks, dogs, cats and yes even a hawk).

Q.I bought this trap at Lowes (model 1085) and went to use it and found the locking bar doesn't lock when the trap is triggered.... the bar sits right above the grey plastic piece without going into the groove. How can this problem be fixed???

The locking bar is designed to sit right above this gray plastic piece. If the animal tries to push on the door from inside the trap, the door will open slightly until the gray piece comes in contact with the door lock, preventing it from opening all the way.

Q.We got a one door 1085 and are unable to set the trap, It does not stay opened, it shuts right away.

Sometimes, when the trap is brand new the wires need to be stretched out slightly. We recommend forcefully opening and closing the trap until the door stays in place.

Q.is this large easy-set trap already assembled or is it collapsed?

This trap comes fully assembled.
