I have a model 1079 and a raccoon escaped by bending the door lock frame. Do you sell replacement parts ?
Question by: Ray Riddell on Nov 6, 2024, 12:04 PM
Unfortunately replacement parts are not avaialble.

I have model 1085 and while releasing a very agitated porcupine the door popped open and he jumped out. Fortunately I was not injured and he ran away. Looking at the spring loaded door bar I could see it only has a spring in one side. Is this correct? It doesn’t latch well on the side of the bar without a spring: the bar is not engaged on that side allowing it to come unlocked with some jostling by the trapped animal.

What’s the difference between the 1079 and 1085 large animal trap?
Question by: EDWARD TATARYN on Aug 8, 2025, 8:26 PM
Hi, thank you so much for your question. The difference is that the 1085 is an easy-set trap with a sensitivity knob, while the 1079 is a standard large trap.

Is there an automatic/timer door opener for the raccoon size trap? Also, raccoons can reach through the mesh on some parts of the trap and it isn't practical to hold the trap at arms length with the animal inside it. Do you have any suggestions or add on kits to address this issue?
Question by: Scott Goodman on Aug 19, 2025, 6:25 PM
Hi, thank you so much for your question. Unfortunately, we do not offer any traps with a timer feature or automatic door opener, and we currently do not have any add-on kits to prevent animals from reaching through the mesh.

I have one of your older model raccoon-sized traps. Every time I catch one, they tear up the trigger rod, bend the trip plate, and pretty much require me to rebuild the trap. In addition there are rats in the area who can (could) sneak through the large openings in the trap. I solved that by putting 1./4 in welded wire all around the trap using stainless steel zip ties. Do your newer versions have smaller holes in the side and top or will I have to modify them as well to handle the rodents that accompany the reccoons? Do y'all have any suggestions on how to keep the critters from tearing up the trap? I put it out at night and by morning, when I catch one, it's a rebuild.

Thank you very much for contacting us. It would be our pleasure to assist you.
We recommend the Model 1078, which measures 24” x 7” x 7” and features 1-inch by 1-inch mesh openings. This design helps prevent smaller animals like rats from escaping and offers improved durability.

Additionally, the trap includes smooth interior edges to help prevent injury to the animal and reduce aggressive behavior that can damage the trap.

I finally caught an armadillo in my trap but he was able to pry the door open, bend the locking mechanism, pop it loose and escape. Can it be repaired? It was the big, double door model
Question by: Jim Douglass on Oct 2, 2025, 4:38 PM

I'm sorry to hear the armadillo escaped and damaged your trap. Since the animal bent the locking mechanism and pried the door open, the trap may require repair or replacement.

Please call us at 1-855-542-8242 so we can discuss the damage and explore repair or warranty options with you.
