I have this large trap and have only used it once. I cannot get the trip plate to work the trap door. Everything is connected as it was when i bought it. there is a possibility of the shaft of the L rod being bowed slightly. Could that be the cause? If so, can it be replaced? Saving cat lives here. PLease help!

I hope this message finds you well. Here are a few troubleshooting steps to ensure the proper functioning of the trap mechanism:
Check for Obstructions: Ensure that there is nothing blocking the moving parts of the trap. Any debris or obstruction could prevent it from operating smoothly.
Test the Rod's Movement: Manually push on the L-rod and trip plate to check if it engages the door correctly. This will help you confirm if the components are working as intended.
Straighten the Rod: If you notice that the rod is slightly bent, you can try gently straightening it with pliers to restore its proper function.

Will your trap the 1081 work for coyotes, I have tried the cheap " foreign traps" and it was a waste of money, they just rip them open. Trying to find something that will work. Thanks for any help.

Hi there, thank you for your question. We understand how frustrating it can be when traps don’t hold up.
The Model 1081 is our Xtra-Large trap and is built for strength and durability. It’s recommended for animals such as armadillos, beavers, bobcats, cats, dogs, foxes, groundhogs, opossums, and raccoons, and is designed to handle those sizes effectively.
However, we do not recommend this trap, or any of our current traps for coyotes. Coyotes are significantly stronger and more aggressive than the animals this trap is designed for, and they can damage or escape standard live cage traps.
At this time, we don’t offer a trap that is specifically recommended for coyotes.
We appreciate you reaching out, and please let us know if you have any other questions. We’re happy to help.
