Designed For You by Trapping Professionals

Designed and field-tested by trapping professionals, the Havahart® X-Small 1-Door Live Animal Trap is built to ensure a quick, safe trapping experience, every time. Thanks to its careful construction, it can be used as a flying squirrel trap, weasel trap, chipmunk trap or virtually any small rodent trap, because these tiny animals can't outsmart it. The trip plate is sensitive enough that even the lightest animals can effectively trigger the door closed, and the mesh openings are smaller than competing traps, so little critters cannot steal the bait.

Simple to Operate

You don't have to be a pro to use this Havahart® extra small trap. Its design allows trappers of all experience levels to capture and transport flying squirrels, weasels and other rodents with ease. And it's the only trap with a guillotine-style door, which can be lifted from the top to avoid making contact with the animal.

Safe for You and the Animal

A live cage trap is a humane tool for eliminating small rodents from your home or yard, and Havahart® makes the process safe for you and the animal. For You: A solid door and handle guard protect you from contact with a trapped animal, and the carrying handle allows you to hold the trap away from your body while an animal is inside. For the Animal: A strong door lock keeps the animal safely inside, while smooth, rolled internal trap edges prevent injuries to animals as they are being transported or as they struggle to escape.

Havahart® Traps are Built to Last

Havahart® builds the strongest, most durable traps with premium materials, intended to endure harsh weather and unpredictable animal behavior. Traps are constructed of industrial-strength, one-piece wire mesh, which is galvanized for maximum resistance to rust and corrosion. A solid door and steel reinforcements add to the durability of the trap, ensuring an even longer trap life.

Excellent product. By California Trapper

I caught the rat that had been living in my garage for over a month the very first night I set the trap.

Effective but expensive By Shirley

We've had the trap for a little over a week, and it's captured about 10 rats. It's working really well. I think it's a bit pricey because after shipping is added, the one trap came close to $50.

Worked for flying squirrels By skogsmulle

Had flying squirrels in attic. Tried a larger trap I already owned, but these little critters were too small and lightweight to tip the trigger plate. Ordered two of the X-small 1-door traps from Havahart. Worked like a charm. Caught two on the first night and a third on the second night. No more critters in the attic.

Great strong trap, works for rats. By Waldo

I first purchased the 1020 trap to catch the rats that have been plaguing me, but it was too small and the latch mechanism was just bad. So I got a 0745 X-SMALL trap and have caught 3 rats in the past week. I also caught a squirrel and two birds as a side effect - not that I wanted that but it works really well. I am most impressed with the sturdy construction. I had three raccoons try to break into the cage when it trapped a rat, and they could not open or break it after 2 hours of trying - even though they tumbled and dragged the cage 10 meters away. Rat survived fortunately.

Patience By Rat friendly

Just to be fair I did finally get the little sucker. The trap works. It takes some finageling to get the least resistance on the mechanismso it springs easily but that is the learning curve. I'm going to bump the rating up a couple more stars.

Patience By Rat friendly

We now have a new roommate that has had a good run of things. It was not our initial intention but with the door not shutting on the trap the guy has made himself at home. The good news is that with all of the peanut butter and cheese that this guy is eating he will probably one day be standing in the trap and stroke out and hit his head on the trigger finally causing the door to

Good product By Rudd

Put this trap in my attic not knowing what was up there. It tripped on day 3 and bait was gone...but nothing was inside, so I presume it was a mouse which could squeeze through the bars. I will put my smaller mouse size unit up instead. The fact a mouse could trip it speaks to it's sensitivity.

Excellent way to get rid of chipmunks By Robin

My yard was overrun with chipmunks. After trying a plastic owl and a rubber snake to no avail, I purchased the Havahart x-small 1-door trap. I used peanut butter and peanuts to bait the trap and in the past month have trapped and relocated 103 chipmunks !!! This trap is easy to use and obviously works extremely well. Would recommend it to anyone trying to rid their garden or yard of these cute little rodents without harming them.

Needs work, but I'd buy another By TM

Like one or two other purchasers, my X-Small 1-Door Trap came with a production flaw that prevented use. The largest chipmunk who ever lived could not have weighed enough to trip it. Pardon me while I use my own descriptive terms, but the rod that pivots under the plate, exits the cage and bends upward was too short in the horizontal section and did not protrude far enough on the outside of the cage. When set, the upward-pointing section of the plate-rod pulled the downward-pointing door-operating rod hard against the wire of the cage and the resulting spring tension made the plate a very sturdy platform indeed. Fortunately, there was an easy fix. Taking a Dremel tool and a small cutting wheel, I removed a tiny piece of horizontal cage-wire directly behind the two rods, 2 inches up from the bottom of the cage. Now, when set, the downward-pointing door-operating rod intrudes slightly into the cage with no tension. The trap now works very well, as advertised, but it gets a one-star penalty for the production flaw.

Works Good By allusedup

In the first week captured 12 Chipmunks. Peanut butter works the best.

Q&A
Q.Once you trap rats, where is the safest place for them to be released so they don't go somewhere and get poisoned or where there are no snakes or owls....?????
A.

Once a rat has been caught, we recommend releasing it 2 miles away, preferably on the other side of a natural barrier such as a highway or river.

Q.Are any repair parts available for the xsmall one door trap. As after trapping a couple of squirrels they where able to brake the spring latch. Thanks for your help.
A.

We do not have replacement parts available, but all our traps are covered under a one-year replacement warranty in case of damages. Please call 1-855-5-HAVAHART (1-855-542-8242) for further assistance.

Q.How does the gravity-action guillotine door function? Think I may be missing parts.
A.

To set the trap, press the door lock tab against the door and lift. Rotate the top trrigger rod so that it catches just below the small notch in the bottom center of the door. The opposite end of the trigger rod should be positioned vertical to the trap and held against the wire frame. Take the trigger pan rod and position it so that it is vertical and directly in front of the trigger rod.
