Designed For You by Trapping Professionals
The Havahart® Medium 2-Door Live Animal Trap is designed by trapping experts to be the most effective, reliable and durable trap of its kind. It is carefully constructed with a fine-tuned tripping mechanism that specially targets heavier critters, eliminating false triggers, and spring-loaded doors for secure, fast trapping.
Simple to Operate
You don't have to be a pro to use this medium Havahart® trap. Its design allows trappers of all experience levels to capture, transport, and release rabbit-sized animals with ease.
Safe for You and the Animal
For You: A solid handle guard and solid doors protect you from contact with the animal, and the carrying handle allows you to hold the trap away from your body, while an animal is inside.
For the Animal: Strong door locks keep animals safely in the cage, and smooth, rolled edges prevent anxious critters from injuring themselves during transport, or as they try to escape.
A Two-Door Trap is Fast and Versatile
A two-door trap allows you to create a clear path from one end of the trap to the other by setting it with both ends open. Place this two-door trap against a wall or along an animal’s path in order to capture it as it travels from either direction. In order to access the bait and get to the other end, a rabbit or skunk must step on the trigger plate, resulting in a catch.

Review RateNo more bunnies. The traps works great.
Caught 2 hungry bunnies!
Took them 10 miles away to a corn field and let them loose.
Now we are all happier.
Review RateGreat product.
I have been using Havahart live animal traps for years. I had to get a new one because I had put it in a driveway that is little used, but a family member managed to back a vehicle over it! It works great and I really need it because I have five nut trees and the squirrels love hanging out at my yard!
Review RateExcellent Trap - Recommend
Regarding 1030-B: Excellent trap!!! It works very well for squirrels. Size: Purchased this medium size trap for trapping squirrels after reading many reviews that said the small size traps were too small. Baits: First tried "squirrel corn" --- not interested. Then tried peanuts --- not interested. Then tried a saucer with bird feed (including sunflower seeds) ---> catching one squirrel after another. Method: I keep one door closed. I got a two door trap because it facilitates the baiting of the trap.
Review RateSquirrels not so cute
Yes, the Havahart trap worked great! Caught 3 devilishly clever squirrels in 3 nights. They are cute but were ransacking our tomatoe garden with no effort on their part for moderatin or civility. I took them far away on way to work in mornings and left them off in wilderness area. They will have to adapt to new situation. We caught another on the 4th night, but my wife made me release it since she felt we were breaking up a family (sheesh). These sentiments quickly turned to wrath when she noticed her prize tomato on the vine was ravaged. I then caught that one again and no more repatriation allowed.
Review RateGreat trap after a little tweeking
After several years of ground squirrels running off with my tomatoes and chewing up my marigolds, I decided to invest in a trap to deal with them. After looking at the reviews and the selection guide on this web site I decided on the Model 1030. At first the door release trigger seemed too stiff and the squirrels too long for the door to close in time. I missed several squirrels who just fed off of the trigger plate and left the trap unscathed. This happened several times. I decided to keep one door closed and position the bait, a combination of unsalted almonds and walnuts and a little peanut butter. Next I bent the door latch wire to the trigger out a bit to reduce the contact area making the release more sensitive. Works like a charm with four squirrels in four days.
Review RateNice design and easier to set up than older versions
Clever, clever squirrels. We have had a veritable party in our attic off and on now for years. I used to set our old and smaller Hav-A-Hart in the attic where they live, but they didn't participate. Then I moved the trap outdoors (easier for me) ... near our bird-feeder. Though the squirrels sometimes escape the trap before the doors fully close, I sometimes get lucky! I recently purchased a larger (2-door) trap in the hopes I would have a better success rate against them. It's better - but I still have a lot of trapping to do!
Trap arrived quickly & was perfect. It included a booklet explaining how to catch critters.
Review Rate1030 not so good 1078 Great!
I bought this last week to get a squirrel out of my chimney flue. The design as others have commented did NOT work using the two doors. Went to using one door and still not successful. Trap needed to be longer and have a better quicker action , After a few days and several failures, I borrowed my neighbors Model 1078! Within two hours, Mr Squirrel was captured! The spring action on the single door Model 1078 is great! I rate that Model with FIVE STARS! I will look for that Model next time I buy and won’t settle for anything else!Response From Havahart®Patty : Consumer Relations Representative
We are sorry about this experience, but glad the other model was successful. A number of our traps are recommended for squirrels as there are a variety of species and sizes of squirrels.

Review RateCould use stronger/thicker metal
Like the size, and the extra hook on the door for the latch to stay down is nice when an animal flips the trap over. However I see a problem with the top metal square where the handle is attached, very positive any animal will be able to bend the flimsy metal and get out. Had a squirrel in this trap for only an hour or two and the metal was already bent.Response From Havahart®Patty : Consumer Relations Representative

Review RateA 6 in. longer trap is the answer for catching squirrels
After using the 1030-B trap for a year now I've found that a few modifications were needed to assure success. First; I found that using it as a 2 door trap did not work. The squirrels were too fast and the doors too close so they were able to propel themselves out when the trap sprung. What I have done is locked the one door down and put a bait holding tray beyond the trigger lever so that the squirrel has to commit a greater part of it's body within the trap. Of course a trap that was 6 inches longer would be the answer.
