A Unique, Unobtrusive Alternative to an Electric Deer Fence
This Electronic Deer Repellent uses a unique, patented technology that gives deer a harmless, static shock to condition them to avoid your yard and leave your landscape intact. No need for unsightly and expensive fencing solutions that compromise your landscape - the Havahart® Electronic Deer Repellent works just like an electronic fence but without the wires, providing an unobtrusive, silent solution to destructive deer.
Distract Deer from your Plants, and Train them to Stay Away for Good
This electronic solution works by taking advantage of a deer's heightened sensitivity to smell, attracting them to the individual repelling posts with sweet acorn scented lure inside an azalea-colored casing. When the curious deer contact the post, the Electronic Deer Repellent delivers a very mild static shock, startling the deer and training the animal to avoid your property.
Stakes are Easy to Install and Relocate, So You Can Keep Deer on Their Toes
Proper stake placement is key; posts should be positioned around deer entries, paths, and around plants they like. After deer have been conditioned to avoid certain areas of your property, the units can be moved to protect newly emerging plants or to protect new entryways. And because the batteries last up to 1 year, the product is virtually maintenance-free. Just reapply the powerful acorn scented lure weekly for best results.
Correct Just One Deer, and Repel the Entire Herd
Deer are known to travel in groups and communicate with one another when they locate food or sense danger. All you need is for one deer to touch the deer-repelling stake, and the entire herd will receive the message to stay away.
Safe for Them and Your Family
These posts are both safe for the target animal and for accidental contact. The current produced by this electronic deer repeller has a very low amperage and lasts only a few milliseconds. The voltage range for this product is approximately 300 volts, and it recharges itself slowly, so there is no possibility of a continuous shock. Finally, the lure holder, which also holds the electrodes, is colored red - this serves to attract deer and also gives awareness and caution to the shock area.2-Year Manufacturer's Warranty

Review RateTake strategy to use and rain interferes with that
Did not anticipate that rain will discharge battery fast. Our deer were not really attracted by the scent of lure. Otherwise is a great concept.... will try it again in late winter when deer are really hungry and threaten our landscape specimen plants.Response From Havahart®Patty : Consumer Relations Representative
We appreciate the time taken to provide this feedback and apologize for the experience. After a rain, make certain that water has not pooled at the top of the post head. This can cause shorting and prevent the HERD units from properly charging. The lure should be re-applied once a week or right after a rain or snow storm. Cold weather can reduce battery life. Review RateGreat idea, poor execution
I purchased 6 of the deer repellent stakes to try to save some of my plants from deer herds in our area. Initially thought that they were just what I was looking for. Put 3 together and placed them around plants in front of house. We had a heavy rain and I wanted to replace attracting scent cotton. When I picked the first one out of the ground, the battery side shaft broke out in the side. The plastic is extremely brittle. It broke out the retaining lugs and the batteries fell out. One other one did the same thing. I used a clear tape to bind them back together so I could use then. I have three others that I will modify with metal rings to reinforce the very brittle plastic. I really like the products that I bought and hate to write a miserable review. I know that I am not the first to have this problem.Response From Havahart®Patty : Consumer Relations Representative

Review RateSeems to be working so far
Plants have not been eaten since we put the havahart battery operated stakes out, however, we have also been spraying the flowers with a deer repellent spray so can't be sure which is working. It maybe both. It is better than the repellent spray alone.
Review RateNot sturdy
Unfortunately none of them survived more than a month. Deer pushed hard and unit broke on thre threading section of the top, holding the batteries, and the rest of the unit. All 6 of them had the same damage thus none work now. I have used tape to hold the pieces together and try to make proper contact, but thet do not seem to work. Deer damage continues and we have too many of them.Response From Havahart®Lauren : Consumer Relations Representative

Review Rateeasy to install
I hesitated at first ...as I have dealt with deer in my roses for years but I took a chance. There have been no deer for two weeks....I'm running out of the oil mixture but am going to order more of these... what a product!!
Review RateDoesn\'t mix with sprinklers
I quickly figured out that these will not work where my automatic sprinklers go everyday. Of course they water the very plants I want most to protect. So, I kept three and placed them in a area that might cause the deer to take a different route. I returned three and was very pleased with the return policy. No questions, even paid the shipping back. It took forever to get a person when calling the phone number but they were extremely polite, helpful and courteous.
Review RateA product that does what it says
We used these deer repellent stakes in a native plant garden at the edge of the the woods and they worked wonderfully! So when we planted another garden in the same park where we know the deer abound, I ordered another set. So far, we haven't had to use them, but it's reassuring to know that when we need them, we have them and they will work.
Review RateUnreliableBought two sets of these a few weeks ago. Two of the six don't work, regardless of how many times the batteries have been changed. There is no applicator for the liquid attractant. An eye dropper or syringe would be helpful. Would not buy these again.
Review Ratetoo early/late to tellI bought 6 3 weeks age but the deer had already ravaged the flox and lilies so too early to tell how effective. this evening I replaced the cotton and tested . Two of the six did not spark so that concerns me
Review RateReview Posted on Amazon.comThese take almost no time to put together but you must read the instructions carefully. You put cotton balls in the top and put a few drops of lure on them. Acorn lure is supplied and it doesn't smell bad so if you get it on your hands, you aren't a pariah for a day. There are loops of wire that mustn't touch or it wears out the battery so you have to be careful to set them correctly before you put the batteries in. Two AA batteries are required for each post and it takes 45 minutes to charge the first time. This is an important thing to know because you might figure it doesn't work, like my brother did when he put it together without the instructions! You can test them with a screwdriver and you get a spark. After discharge it takes only 15 minutes to recharge. I can't tell you how the deer like them because I haven't seen the deer, but my plants are left alone! Since they run on batteries, you don't have to have them at any set distance apart, just stick them wherever your precious plants are being attacked. Evidently the deer become complacent with the same lure scent so you get info on where to order other scents to rotate.
