Lure Deer Away from Your Plants, and Train Them to Stay Away

This electronic solution works by taking advantage of a deer's heightened sensitivity to smell, attracting deer to the individual repelling posts with an irresistibly sweet acorn scented lure inside of an azalea-colored casing. When the curious deer contacts the post, the Electronic Deer Repellent delivers a mild static shock, startling the deer and herding the animal away from your property.

Posts are Easy to Install and Relocate, Keeping Deer on Their Toes

Proper stake placement is KEY! Posts should be positioned around deer entries, paths, and around plants they are most likely to encounter with the goal of forcing deer interaction with the unit. After deer have been conditioned to avoid certain areas of your property, the units can be moved to protect newly emerging plants or to protect new entryways. And because the batteries last up to 1 year, the product is virtually maintenance-free. Just reapply the powerful acorn scented lure weekly for best results.

Correct Just One Deer, and Repel the Entire Herd

Deer are known to travel in groups and will communicate with one another when they locate food or sense danger. In most cases, all you need is for one deer to touch the deer-repelling stake, and the entire herd will receive the message to stay away.

Harmless for Them, with Safety Features to Protect You

These electronic repellent posts are both safe for the target animal and for accidental contact. The current produced by this electronic deer repeller has a very low amperage and lasts only a few milliseconds. The voltage range for this product is approximately 300 volts, and it recharges itself slowly, so there is no possibility of a continuous shock to an individual. Finally, the lure holder, which also holds the electrodes, is colored red - which attracts deer and also gives awareness and caution to the shock area.

Havahart® Electronic Deer Repellent is rated 4.75 out of 5 by 28.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very Poor Product don't waste your money on these. I purchase 3 sets of 3 as I have a big deer problem. They sound like a great idea but when I received them, I read the instructions and installed the batteries on 3 of them and let them charge up. You have to wait about 20 mins before they are ready to shock. After the time to charge, I tested them to make sure they were working. I received a shock from 1 strong enough to repel a deer. The other 2 had no shock. This is troubling as you bait these to attract the deer to them. Just what you need is bait attracting deer to your yard and the electronic repeller doesn't shock and repel them. I tested them twice more after I set them out before I went to bed and again in the morning and only 1 shocked. The other 2 had no shock or minimal and would not repel a mosquito. I packaged them up and sent them back after arguing with the representative that I was the problem and did something wrong. Don't waste your money on these. Havahart had and opportunity to make a great product but they failed!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from too early/late to tell I bought 6 3 weeks age but the deer had already ravaged the flox and lilies so too early to tell how effective. this evening I replaced the cotton and tested . Two of the six did not spark so that concerns me

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product bought these to stop deer from eating up garden plants. installed them per instruction, deer came and tested them the first night i put them out and got the surprise of their life by touching one and jumped completely out of the garden & they have not been back since. this has worked the best of all the products i have bought.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Go Away, Bambi !! I haven't had these very long, but so far they seem to be doing the trick! The deer were destroying my fruit trees, and now I can see new growth! I've always had good luck with Havahart products, and I like that they are made in the USA.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Haven't Seen any Deer or Garden Damage Now, I have to admit that I have not staked out my vegetable garden with binoculars or electronic surveillance. I live on the Northern outskirts of a small town near the Kansas Nebraska border. Every year my vegtable garden ended up as a buffet for the deer that roam the area. After installing the three stakes of the Havahart 5250 Electronic Deer Repellent system I have had no more trouble. The access to the garden area is fairly narrow, so the three stakes are just a few feet apart (making it difficult for a full grown deer to pass through without brushing up against one. The proof is in the pudding. One whole growing season without any damage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Snapping and Zapping - Deer are a running I was a little skeptical in setting these up in my garden but I followed the directions and loaded in the batteries and set them in the middle of my newly planted peppers and squash. The following day I went to find that the deer had visited my garden in the hopes of a midnight snack. Part of a green pepper plant right before the electronic repellent was eaten and I could see the ground near the repellent was dug into and it was moved over a bit, but no other plants were touched. It's easy to load the batteries and acorn scent into the device. They come with cotton balls to load up the scent and they are tucked into little cavities under the charged wires atop the device. Just to test the system I touched one of the wires and felt nothing but when I touched one into another I received a nice shock that I'm sure scared away the deer that nibbled on my pepper plant! So far I've been very impressed with the results and I've only had to reload the lure after recent rainfalls. The shock is not enough to hurt children, and just enough to scare away deer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from keeps the critters at bay Although I have been unable to see the deer getting shocked by this device it does appear to be working. I have a severe deer problem with them nibbling on just about everything I plant. I placed these by the plants that they seemed to like the most and it appears to be keeping them away from those plants. I only wish there was some king of a "counter" on these stakes to register how many "hits" there might have been. Without any way of knowing for sure I am only speculating on whether they are working or possibly the deer just moved on of their own accord. The stakes were easy to assemble and although the instructions were very brief I think they were sufficient for such a simple device. Only a review by a deer could be more objective.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Environmentally safe, won't hurt deer, and easy to set up I'm using Havahart 5250 Electronic Deer Repellent to keep deer from eating the tasty veggies in my garden. Set up is easy -- have yet to see them in action but I will add notes as the season unfolds. Check out my short video review for details.Edit: July 15 -- Looks like these do work. We have a large garden and the veggies in the three corners where I had these in place are fine -- but last night the area where I don't have one got munched -- wiped out. Looks like I'm ordering another set to fully protect the entire garden.

How well would these work in winter in the upper Midwest? I'm wondering specifically about the effects of freezing temperatures and snow on the effectiveness of the lure and the longevity of both the bait and batteries.

Asked by: CorGeek
We recommend to re-scent the units after a rain or snow storm. The cotton ball with the scent should be changed every three weeks to prevent mildew. The batteries should last approximately 1 to 1.5 years, however; cold weather climates can dramatically reduce the battery life, so it is recommended to occasionally check the batteries to ensure they are charged.

What kind of batteries of batteries are used, how long do they last, and are they replaceable? How effective are these compared to your motion detecting sprinklers?

Asked by: Dick B
Each stake uses 2 AA batteries. They will last about a year and can be replaced. Both the Spray Away unit and the Electronic Stakes are effective in keeping deer from the area as they are a physiological deterrent. The stakes work when the deer come in direct contact with the wires on the top and the Spray Away uses motion to detect the deer and spray water.
