Review RateCats have escaped more than once.
I have 2 of these bought in 2020 and 2018. Have had some trouble that resulted in escapes. One trap was incorrectly assembled, missing the rolled connector that held the bottom and side together by the front door. When I picked it up the bottom and side separated and she pushed her way out. She may have been hurt but she took off at the shelter. She was never found. She had 3 kittens who were 2 weeks old and lost their mom. Another divider came broken. The dividers are not well made. They are gapped in places that allow small cats to escape. I lost a 5 month old when she pushed through the gap in the divider. Yes it was used correctly. They must have better quality control. Forget the written instructions for this trap. They are pretty much usless. Instead go online to YouTube and watch the video for this particular trap. Traps work well once you can figure out how they get put together. Oh, since these are wife traps, I recommend a small dish to put the food in. Better than leaving the food on the ground if you have to move the cage(s).
Review RateA few issues that could improve the Feral Cat Trap
I bought this trap for feral cats. Out of the box the door release did not line up correctly into the metal slot. After speaking with customer service I decided to bend it into place like you used to do with the old mouse traps. Problem 1 solved. I trapped the feral cat that was causing problems and then my problems began. The trap needs to be secured with snap ties before you ever move the trap. With the first motion the cat's head came out under the trap door by pressuring the light gauge screen construction of the cage. Pushing the cats head back in left fur torn out and I feared for the safety of the cat. I quickly put in the cage separation bars, only to have the cat become stuck between the top of the bars and the cage as the screen construction on the cage also bent easily enough for the cat to press above the divider. I quickly grabbed a hand full of snap ties and snap tied the cage to the door, then the top of the cage to the divider and basically reinforced the cage at both ends for fear of losing or hurting the animal. While the trap does easily catch the animal it could really use some stronger screen material for the outside box of the cage. Prior to using it and especially moving it I would certainly advise securing any inside parts you can to strengthen the screen body of the trap.Response From Havahart®Lauren : Consumer Relations Representative
Thank you for sharing this feedback. We apologize for the condition in which this trap was received. When properly assembled, this trap should not need to be secured with snap ties. It is also very important to keep an animal calm when transporting. To sooth the animal, we recommend placing a burlap sac or towel over the trap and speak in a low voice to alert the animal of your presence prior to moving it. The trap came in a timely manner. The wire used in the trap is not the quality of my other traps. I found the feral cat rescue trap hard to assemble. Did not understand 2 of the instructions for the access door to open it to put in food and water in. Did not understand why you would put the trap on metal door end upright with animal in the trap. I bought the trap for the divider to keep animal secure when releasing animal. Divider is not easy to insert when you need to do it in a hurry with animal in trap.Response From Havahart®Patty : Consumer Relations Representative

The safety of both the cat and the trapper are kept in mind when using the divider. During insertion, this will reduce the cat's ability to reach out for the person or the divider. Review RateOK TRAP!!I bought this trap a couple of weeks ago. I have not used it because it isn't easy to set up. I have used my old Havahart trap. Also the burlap with the cage smells so bad I would not think of using it on the cage. It also is not easy to slide the door open to put food in for the cat.
