What are the advantages of Havahart® Live Animal Cage Traps versus other cage traps?
Question by: Cathy on Nov 30, 2014, 7:00 PM
Havahart® has been the leader in live animal traps for over 70 years, and it’s the only brand that offers patented Easy Set® technology. Havahart® traps are proudly made in the U.S.A. and are constructed of durable wire mesh which is galvanized for maximum resistance to rust and corrosion. Finally, we stand behind the superior quality of our traps with a 1-year manufacturer’s warranty.

I set trap, put food in back and preg. cat went in, ate food and never triggered the door to shut. Trap was all put together correct. It seems to require quite a bit of pressure on the trip plate to work. Is there a way to adjust tension on trip plate?
Question by: Cat lover2 on Aug 27, 2015, 8:00 PM
There is not a way to adjust the tension on the trap. To increase the sensitivity we would recommend hanging the bait from the top of the trap or burying it under the trap. This will allow the cat to be in the trap longer and struggle to get the bait increasing the chances of a catch.

May I purchase a slide-in divider that works with the large easy-release trap? It only seems to come with the feral cat trap, but I don't want the bother of putting one together. It would be handy for feeding and watering cats before and after trapping.
Question by: Shuska on Sep 29, 2015, 8:00 PM
At this time, the divider is only available with our Havahart® Feral Cat Trap Rescue Kit, model 1099. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Our Shelter has older Havahart traps and we need more! These have a rear door to put food in as well as open for quick release - can you tell me what model that is? Thank you
Question by: SuzieAXA on Jan 11, 2016, 7:00 PM
Based on the description, this may be one of our large collapsible traps. We do have three options available in the large size, model 1089, 1092, and 1099. Please feel free to contact our Consumer Relations Team at 1-855-5-HAVAHART (1-855-542-8242) for more information on these traps.

Spacing between wires?
Question by: Gray on Feb 14, 2016, 7:00 PM
This cage is constructed with the majority of the openings approximately one inch by one inch. There are several rows with slightly larger spacing, one inch by two inches.

I have been trying to trap a ground hog. This critter can go into the collapse-able, single-door, large Havahart trap and trips the door closed, but after eating all of the bait apparently simply pushes the door open and escapes ! What can I do ???
Question by: TRForbus on Jun 27, 2016, 8:00 PM
We recommend testing the door to see if it locks shut when closed. It is possible that the groundhog is not fully inside the trap when the door closes. If this occurs, they may be able to back out of the cage before the door locks.

Please contact us directly at 1-855-5-HAVAHART (1-855-542-8242). We would like to learn more about this experience and offer further assistance.

do you have a trap large enough to catch a beaver
Question by: WHBB on Sep 30, 2016, 8:00 PM
Yes. We recommend or X-Large 1-Door Trap model #1081 for beavers.
Answer by: Woodstream (Admin) on Nov 8, 2016, 7:00 PM
I have two of large ezset cages. The raccoons have destroyed both. They somehow bend the steel rod attached to the pressure plate and bend the pressure plate. The pressure plates are bent so bad that I can no longer set the traps. Can I fix them?
Question by: TCutter on Nov 30, 2016, 7:00 PM
We apologize for this experience. Animals can become panicked when inside a trap for periods of time. We recommend checking the trap frequently so an animal can be released as soon as possible. Please contact our Consumer Relations Team at 1-855-5-HAVAHART (1-855-542-8242) so we may offer additional assistance.

Setting up the trap is easy ..... catching a skunk. The hard part, tricky part is releasing the skunk. What trap do you recommend particularly for catching a skunk with the easiest release?
Question by: john collom on Jun 13, 2017, 8:00 PM
When a skunk has been caught, we recommend taking precautions to not startle the skunk and causing it to spray.

Carry a blanket in front of your body covering your shoulders to feet.
Speak softly while slowly and steadily approaching the trap, so the skunk is alerted to your presence.
Skunks do not generally spray what they can not see, so gently drape the sheet over the trap.
Handle the trap gently and move it slowly to relocate it at least 10 miles away (if laws permit).

A skunk will stomp its two front feet and raise its tail before turning to spray, so keep an eye out for these signs of distress.
