Sonic Pulse Penetrates the Soil Driving Moles & Gophers Away

Use Sweeney’s® Sonic Spikes™ for season-long protection against moles and gophers. When placed into the ground and activated, these weather-resistant spikes emit high-pitched ultrasonic sound waves that only moles and gophers can hear. The shrill noise travels underground, irritating these burrowing animals and effectively driving them away.

Sweeney’s® Sonic Spikes™ work best in moist soil or clay.

Easy to Install

Insert 3 D-cell batteries into the unit using the convenient removable battery sleeve, and securely tighten the cap. The unit will start to create vibrations after just 15 seconds so that you know it’s working. Dig a starter hole into the ground, and insert the Sonic Spike™ so that the cap is flush with the ground to prevent tripping or running over it with a lawnmower. The spikes must be used continuously for 7-14 days before successfully driving animals out of the area, and they will last for 4-6 months on one set of batteries. Remove spikes before the ground freezes.

One Sonic Spike™ protects up to 7,500 sq. ft.

Could be decent product but low quality By mole man

Rather than a liberal return-failed-unit policy, they should work on initial quality instead. Bought 3 in quick succession because each failed right out of the box. Just shoddy manufacturing requiring extra trip to store for replacement...which doesn't work either. Two of my old ones buzzing away but can't get enough working ones to accomplish what I need. Liberal exchange policy is NOT the answer for bad, low quality manufacturing.

Good idea hurt by poor quality By Mole hater

Have used spikes twice. First time seemed to work vs. moles. Couple years later had to try again. Problem was initial quality of the product. Fresh out of the box they didn't work. No charge, no sound. (Yes, the were turned on). Just shoddy. Merchant decent in taking returns one after another for exchange but after fourth one, decided mfr. just didn't care. Very disappointing.

NOT DEPENDABLE! By 8686

I bought two of these spikes. One worked, the other did not (no sound). I bought a third one. It didn't work. I called customer service. The person I spoke with told me to turn the switch "ON" and leave it for 3-5 days so it could charge. The spike would then emit the sound. It has been two weeks and still not sound. Not buying a fourth!

A good product that seems to work. By Mike

I tried castor oil concoctions, worm baits, and poison, and moles always came back. After hearing how my son drove squirrels out of his attic with a sonic device, I bought two solar powered spikes for moles. I haven't see a trace for 4-5 weeks. In fact bought 2 more to protect other areas of the lawn. Question: The first two I bought didn't make any audible noise. The second two emit a high pitch squeal on a regular basis. Higher than the 400 Hz emission that is used to deter moles. What is "normal" operation? Thanks for making a great product.

Hello Mike,

Thank you for sharing this feedback. The spike should emit a sonic pulse every 30 seconds, sounding like a long, drawn out beep. Please feel free to contact our Consumer Relations Team at 1-855-5-VICTOR (1-855-584-2867) for additional assistance.

Hoping they work. By Wynnr

So far they have not worked for me. Put them in the ground several months ago with very little success. I added 9 more two weeks ago and waiting to see if it helps. Also ordered the spray and pellets hoping they might help.

Each spike will repel moles and gophers in an area of up to 7500 sq ft, with moist clay soil being the best conductor of the sound.  They will start to move out after 7-14 days of continuous use.  Please contact our Consumer Relations Team at 1-855-5-VICTOR (1-855-584-2867) for additional assistance.  This product is covered by a one year warranty.

Is it working? By Breyer

I just placed my first sonic spike. When I installed it a day ago it had an audible sound when I inserted the batteries and also when placed in the ground it was audible. One day later I heard nothing so I bought new Durcell batteries. The sound was audible when I inserted them but the sound now is only heard when out of the tube....very low. So...should the sound level remain as loud as it is when you load the batteries or not? I can't rate the product because I am not even sure if it is working. Thanks.

We appreciate the time taken to share this feedback and are happy to help. The sound will be muffled once properly placed into the ground, where it will create vibrations that irritate moles and gophers enough to move on to a more tranquil environment.

would not recomend By Dan

Does not work. They seem to enjoy the sonic noise. I had more holes after installing. Yes, they are moles.

Response From Havahart®
Anthony : Consumer Relations Representative

We appreciate the time taken to share this unusual experience and would like to learn more about it. When the spikes are driven far enough so that the cap section is flush with the ground, the sound will cause vibrations that travel underground to irritate the moles.

Not Happy At This Time By Dick

I purchased 8 of these spikes last year. Four give a loud sound, 4 you can hardly hear. Last year I had moles come right up too and move right by the spikes. Those could have been the ones with minimal sound. I will try the ones with audible sound this year to see if they are effective. I'm trying to get replacements on the ones you can hardly hear--- still waiting on a reply to my phone call and subsequent submission of a copy of my receipts.

Response From Havahart®
Patty : Consumer Relations Representative

Hello Dick,

We apologize for this experience and appreciate the feedback.

Moles and gophers will start to move away from the area after 7-14 days of continuous use.  When they first encounter this deterrent, they may move in closer initially to investigate the source in an attempt to be rid of it.

This product is covered by a one year replacement warranty. Please give our Consumer Relations Team a call at 1-855-5-VICTOR (1-855-584-2867) with additional questions.
