We started with one in the barn, it was placed close to the quail feed. Have had as many as 17 at one time. We now use several on the outside of house by foundation to control mice from coming in the house. It works and is the cheapest long term solution.

The Tin Cat is much much better at getting mice than our old useless pet cat. It is also better than any lethal traps I have used. It is made of metal so the mice cannot chew their way out which happens with plastic live traps. It is easy to open to make the release and then rebait. Peanut butter is irresistable to mice. The only caveat I have is that after years of use the mechanism can get clogged with dirt, bait remnants, rust etc. It would be great if the mechanism boxes could be easily removed for cleaning and then replaced.
