Be sure you have the lid on tight before opening and do not open it until you are outside or in the sink. I did not have the lid on super tight and the sticky nector poured out the feeding openings all over my patio table. However, once I securely tightened the lid, it works great. I would also recommend trying it with plain water to make sure you have the hang of it before wasting the sticky nector. The secret seems to be the rubber o-ring that needs to continue to create an air tight seal in order to keep it from leaking. If the seal holds up, this feeder will have a long life in my garden. I see that Customer Service offers a replacement seal in the event the seal becomes no long air tight.

I haven't hung this yet, as it is too early for hummers in my state, but I was pleasantly surprised at how sturdy and attractive this feeder is. For eleven bucks, I expected a flimsy thing but this is a really nice feeder.
