I've been trapping for 50 years. Using Havahart for as long as I can remember. Had to get more traps recently and discovered the current models just are not as sturdy as the old ones. Model 1045 and 1050 both worked fine for opposum, feral cat, squirrels, rabbits. Neither held a trapped armadillo, even though armadillo pictures are on the boxes. The armadillos just kept pushing on the bottom of the closed door until the top of the trap was bent upward enough the spring mechanism just flopped out. Older models have a slightly different design and heavier reinforcing wire around the openings. _______________________________________________ Thank you for your online review of our Havahart Live Animal Cage Trap (model 1050). I picked one of these traps up at Lee Valley in Halifax. I've been pestered by some Raccoons getting into my garbage for weeks now, and finally had it. I found where they've been going under my shed to get around to the garbage, so I set the trap with a granola bar, and waited. The first night, I had both doors open, and the granola bar was gone. The second night I used only one door open, and this morning, there was a little 'coon in my trap. The trap is set again now, and hopefully day 3 will yield another one. I am certain there's more than 1 here. I'm quite pleased that Mr. Coon won't be bothering anyone's garbage anymore!
