Reviewer: Home Owner With Large Yard
Just thought I'd update my previous comments....I have now removed 25 chipmunks and one mouse from my yard in the last few months. 20 were caught with this trap using sunflower seeds for bait. (A few seeds near each open end and a small pile on the bait tray). I stopped the larger chipmunks from escaping by placing a stone on top of the trap when I set it, to weigh it down...now they can't shake it open or flip it over. This thing works like a charm. I also caught a few using a another brand trap designed to catch multiple chipmunks...a "repeater" with two spring doors. It does not work as well as the Havahart because the chipmunks have to push the door up to get in...so they are more cautious. Also if you bait with too many sunflower seeds the squirrels come and scare away the chipmunks. The repeater trap cost 3X more than the Havahart and didn't work as well. I should have bought a 2nd Havahart instead.

We have a rodent business, so we constantly have little critters running around. With the live traps, we can catch them and see if it is an escapee that needs to be returned to its cage or a wild one that needs to be taken away. This safeguards our breeding stock and keeps us from getting an out-of-control infestation.
