Trapping Has Never Been Easier

Controlling wild raccoons, armadillos and other destructive animals has never been easier than with Easy Set® traps. Patented Havahart® technology allows you to set your trap with just one hand and in one quick motion. Easy Set® also allows you to release a trapped animal safely from the back of the trap - you never have to touch the door or come near the animal. Plus, updated sturdy hardware provides additional comfort, security and durability.

Set and Release with One Hand

This trap can be set in just 1 simple step. Just pull back the patented Easy Set® lever to open the door, and it's ready for a catch. Best of all, the lever also allows you to release the animal while standing away from the trap, clear of the animal's escape path. Check out our videos for more information.

Enlarged Hand Guard and Carrying Handle Protect You

An enlarged steel plate covers the entire width of the top of the trap, protecting your hand from contact with the animal. Additionally, the rigid plastic carrying handle gives you better control and provides more comfort when handling large animals.

Safe, Rolled Metal Edges that Protect the Animal

Easy Set® traps are constructed of one-piece wire mesh, galvanized for resistance to rust and corrosion. The edges are polished smooth to protect the animal from injuring itself during transport.

No-Escape Door Locks Give You Peace of Mind

Our strong spring-loaded door features an updated lock with added reinforcements, making your groundhog trap more escape-proof than ever.

Sensitivity Screw to Target Specific Sized Animals

This sensitivity screw allows you to tailor the trip force of the trap to the target animal. For small animals like opossums that require more sensitivity to trip the trap, turn the sensitivity screw to the left (-). Larger animals like raccoons need less sensitivity, so turn the screw to the right (+), generating a less sensitive trip action. The sensitivity screw gives you the opportunity to catch only the animals you want.

Not very effective By Murphy

When I first got the trap, the gate would not fall. There was no clearance between the gate and the side of the trap, and the gate would jam. I bent some of the wires on the side of the trap outward, and solved that problem. However, the trip plate is not very sensitive. It is also not stiff enough, and one side will push to the floor without tripping the trap. It is easy to set, but since it only works about half time, that's not much of an advantage.

Hello Murphy,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We assure you, our traps should function as designed without any modifications, and we're happy to honor our one-year replacement policy for this trap. If you find that the trap is not sensitive enough for the animal you're trying to catch, we recommend placing an extra bit of weight, such as a pebble or a few rocks, on the bait plate. OK for small animals By Chopper

Works well for opossums and cats, but raccoons have totally destroyed 2 different traps and escaped. My 40 year old trap is made much stronger and I have never had a raccoon escape. It is just very difficult for the wife to set.

Worked immediately By Diana

Definitely is Easy Set. I had so much problem with my previous trap that I thought I better spring for a 2nd one that I hoped would work. Worked immediately. Put a trail of banana pieces into the trap (per suggestion from a Nature Conservancy guy) and caught my groundhog immediately. Only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because he was banging so vigorously at the trap opening that I was afraid he push out. Put a piece of rebar thru sides and that held the door closed nicely.

Ineffective locking mechanism By None

Changing my original Five Star December 8, 2018 review. The trap is easy to set. It easily releases the animal. It's effective at catching the animal. However, we've caught eight raccoons. Of the eight, three managed to escape, which defeats the purpose of catching them in the first place. The door locking mechanism simply isn't strong enough. An "escape rate" of 37% is too high. Not sure I'd recommend this trap.

Trip plate not sensitive enough By Jay

I use the smaller 2-door traps and they work awesome in catching squirrels and rats. However, the past two weeks I have used this larger model in order to attempt to catch something under my house that is too big for the smaller traps. I need some advice because the sensitivity knob cannot be set sensitive enough and the animal is merely grabbing the food despite it being placed at the back of the trap per the instructions without setting off the trap. It is either bypassing the trip mechanism altogether, or perhaps it is not heavy enough to trip the trap while stepping on it? I have even placed obstacles in the trap to force it to have to cross onto the trip plate, but to no avail yet. The problem seems to be with the lack of sensitivity with this particular trap. Can anyone offer me some guidance on this? I have adjusted the sensitivity screw knob many different ways, but nothing is working and the critter always gets away with the bait. Thank you.

We appreciate your feedback, thank you for taking the time to provide it! To further increase the sensitivity, weight can be added to the trigger pedal in the form of small stones, metal washers, and similar objects. Suspending the bait from the top of the trap may increase the interaction the animal has with the trigger pedal, ensuring a successful catch. These traps are covered by our 30-day guarantee and a 1-year replacement policy with a copy of the purchase receipt. Please feel free to contact our Consumer Relations Team at 1-855-5-HAVAHART (1-855-542-8242) for assistance.

New easy set trap ,, By SP

The new easy set trap ls so much better to use than the older model. I wasn't intending to " get rid " of animals with it. I intended using it to catch a few cats so they can be brought to homes. Now anyone want to buy my other trap ? It's clean and new. I never used it. I will be keeping model 1085. It's easier to set.

Not good By Nacho

The trap work well as far as catching the large racoon. The problem is that it couldn’t hold it. The racoon easily overpowered the back lash and got out after eating the bate. It did this twice. So I don’t plan to use it again until I can custom modify the locking mechanism into something more stury that doesn’t allow a racoon to back out of it.

Thank you for providing this feedback! We are very sorry for this experience. For the best results, we recommend monitoring the trap frequently. Animals can quickly become scared and anxious and will go to extreme measures to escape. To ensure a safe and successful catch and release, we recommend releasing the animal as quickly as possible.

Please feel free to contact our Consumer Relations Team at 1-855-5-HAVAHART (1-855-542-8242) with any questions or for additional assistance.

Excellent trap By None

Extremely easy to set the trap and just as easy to release the animal. Very quickly snagged two raccoons and one cat. Place the bait in the very back of the trap. My initial baiting I had the bait past the trip plate, but close enough to the trip plate that the raccoon was able to secure the bait without triggering the trap. The trap is well made and designed such that the animal cannot reach your hand when you're carrying a caged animal. I have no reservations in recommending this trap for the suggested animals.

This is the only trap you should ever use! By Thomas

This is the only trap you should ever use! We just recently bought this one so we had our own trap. We have enough trouble animals show up in our yard, it was just time to get our own. Before this we rented the same model of this trap that didn't have the easy set function. It worked great! We caught many animals including Opossum, Raccoon, and Skunks. Once we got two skunks at once! This easy set trap is definitely SO MUCH EASIER to use. Just one lever, and it's an awesome feature when you have to release the animal. The traps are made sturdy and will last for a good long time. I can't speak to longevity of this particular model, but the rental we used they had for many years and it showed very little wear after serving so many customers. Built tough to last. Highly recommended!

Q.The gray plastic lock is broken. Would that part be available for purchase?

Replacement parts are not available for this trap, however, it is covered by our 1-year replacement policy. Please contact our Consumer Relations Team at 1-855-5-HAVAHART (1-855-542-8242) for assistance.

Q.I bought this trap at Lowes (model 1085) and went to use it and found the locking bar doesn't lock when the trap is triggered.... the bar sits right above the grey plastic piece without going into the groove. How can this problem be fixed???

The locking bar is designed to sit right above this gray plastic piece. If the animal tries to push on the door from inside the trap, the door will open slightly until the gray piece comes in contact with the door lock, preventing it from opening all the way.

Q.We got a one door 1085 and are unable to set the trap, It does not stay opened, it shuts right away.

Sometimes, when the trap is brand new the wires need to be stretched out slightly. We recommend forcefully opening and closing the trap until the door stays in place.
