Q: Will liquid repellents work in cold temperatures?
A: Yes - If the product is sprayed before temperatures drop below 40 degrees. A liquid repellent can freeze and cause damage to the plant, if sprayed on a plant at temperatures below 40 degrees. In the winter months, use granular repellent to keep critters away.
Q:Can you use your Deer Repellents on deciduous trees?
A: Yes. Use as directed. Some deciduous trees may be sensitive and some leaf drop may occur initially without perminemt harm to the tree. Test in a small area and wait 24 hours before full application.
Q: Do you need to reapply animal repellents after it rains?
A: Yes, if there was a heavy downpour or within 24 hours of spraying.
Liquid Repellents - If spray is used in wet conditions or in damp, cold, foggy or misty, weather, or if precipitation occurs before spray can dry, protection may be partially or completely lost. Reapply after heavy rain.
Granular Repellents - More frequent application may be necessary during periods of heavy, prolonged rainfall.
I purchased this product at Lowe's and the associate highly recommended this to solve my problems. I bought the 2lb granules, and used as directed. The ground squirrels continued to walk right through this stuff and dig in treated areas. My dog didn't like the smell of it but it didn't stop him from trampling through the flower beds. I have a problem with grey squirrels tasting our green tomatoes and eating any that are close to ripe. They will come onto our deck and eat the tomatoes that we put on the banisters for a little extra ripening. Since I had no luck with this product so far, I decided to test its effectiveness. I lined the banisters with this product, and liberally scattered this product on a table. I put a ripe tomato on the table in the center of the treated area. We caught a grey squirrel walking the full length of the freshly treated banister, it hopped onto the treated table and preceded to eat the tomato, while sitting in the middle of this product. It was a bit pricey at almost $16 for 2lbs. and did absolutely nothing to even discourage our pests.

The purpose of this product is to create an unwelcome environment for nuisance pests like squirrels, dogs, cats, raccoons, skunks, and groundhogs. Squirrels are one of the most difficult animals to repel, and like humans, each animal is unique with their tolerence. Please keep in mind that applying Critter Ridder® will not always produce instantaneous results; it may take several applications to condition the animal to stay away. We are certain if you give it some more time the neighborhood squirrels and you dog will no longer be interested in your garden.

I am a volunteer working with the nesting Loggerhead turtles on Harbor Island, SC. We had a large racoon invasion problem on our nesting beach last summer. The racoons destroyed one too many nests and I looked to granular Critter Ridder for a possible solution to the problem.
We sprinkled Critter Ridder on and around the nests (we had 26 nests last season). The granuals were still visable after many rain storms throughout the summer and it significantly decreased the racoon invasions of the nests.
