What are the benefits of a Plastic Dog Door versus an Aluminum Dog Door?

Asked by: Cathy
A plastic pet door is less expensive than an aluminum pet door, but since the frame is made of plastic rather than metal, it’s meant only for low to medium usage. The plastic pet doors also have replacement flaps available, whereas the aluminum doors do not.

How high up on my door should I install my Havahart® Dog Door?

Asked by: Cathy
Keep in mind that older pets may have a hard time lifting their legs to get through; so don’t place the door too high. Also keep in mind that the floor may be lower on one side of the door than the other. Finally, if you have multiple pets using the door, be sure that the door you purchase will work for them all.

How do I replace my Havahart® Plastic Dog Door Flap?

Asked by: Cathy
Unscrew and remove the pet door frame from your door, and slide out the old flap. Slide the top edge of the new door flap through the slot at the top of the interior door flange, so that “Havahart®” reads correctly from the inside. Re-insert the pet door frame into the opening of your door, and insert the screws.
