Review RatePoor quality of wire in cage....good design.....
We purchased trap model #1085, last week, purchase price of $50. We have a coon problem, destroying flowering shurbs.......the design of the trap is great....the ease of releasing works very well....Buuutt....the quality of the wire is poor.....we've captured four coons....each one bending and breaking the wires of the cage....must be a soft wire, certainly not strong enough for coons....3 of the coons were released and #4 escaped.....We now have a hole in the cage, which will require patching.....should NOT have to repair a cage that's less then a week old!!Response From Havahart®Lauren : Consumer Relations Representative

This is a great trap for possums; they are docile and just lie down and wait after they're caught. But raccoons bust their way out, first eating the bait and leaving the door closed behind them. Review RateSturdy trap but shoddy contruction
I bought this trap less than a month ago, when I opened the box I noticed that one of the critical parts (trap door pivot rod) which works the trap door was bent making trap inoperable (see picture). Havahart replaced this trap promptly but the second trap still had issues where same metal pivot rod this time was not bent but was mis-aligned in the guide holes on the side of the trap, again making trap inoperable. Review RateGood trap/Questionable QualityReceived trap and set as instructed. Tripped a couple of times due to squirrels and a snake. Caught one groundhog successfully but trip wire broke out of the eyelet. Was able to pry open eyelet and re-insert trip wire to get a second groundhog. Every time the trap trips, trip wire comes out again and I have to attempt to manually repair. Trip wire should be more securely affixed and manual repairs shouldn't be necessary after 4-5 trips.
