Review RateSo far so good BUT......
Assembly and setup was pretty straightforward and initial abbreviated testing was ok but the product literature does not clearly show how to adjust the spray coverage limiters. A call to customer support on this did not resolve the issue. I do not want to force any of the limiter plastic parts to avoid damaging them so would appreciate more detailed instruction on setting the limiters to widen the spray angle. Review RateSensitivity settings suck!
Pretty lame at best. I'm hoping it will deter the cat that keeps crapping in my new soil in my planter. In testing I've found it matters not which setting I use 1 or 4, each one is the same. Cars go by it goes off, my neighbors walk by it goes off but I care about the neighbors cat so I'll see how it goes but review from now? Review RateJury still out
Jury is still out. Detection "eye" seems to be overly sensitive even when turned down. Directions on adjusting the unit were non-existent. It came apart at threaded joints and had to be put back together. I think I've got it working after decreasing the water pressure and the eye sensitivity. Review RateEXCELLENT DEER DETERANT
The Havahart "CRITTER RIDDER MOTION ACTIVATED REPELLENT & SPRINKLER" has done a superb job of saving my yard plants. The improvements are excellent, in particular the ability to shut the unit off. The only minor issue I am experience that the deer will kick the unit and break the sprinkler head-off. My plants are safe and are doing very well. Thanks, your loyal customer. Alex

I bought this so the neigbor cats would stop pooping in my flower beds and it is working but the sprayer keeps going off every few minutes during the day and at night when there is nothing walking in front of it. I have it on setting 1 hoping this would help and it has not. I keep trying to move or tilt it and wondering if the water from the sprayer is dripping down in front of the sensor? I bought two that do a decent job of chasing deer. Difficult to adjust angle and max. height of spray. Prone to small leaks.
Review RateGood news, bad news.
I have older versions of this product and find the current smaller, less expensive model to be improved in several ways, but I also have a complaint. I like that it has a turn off feature on the sensitivity knob. I also like that the hose connection is on the stake rather than on on body of the unit. However, the stake that came with the unit has a hose connection that is such a poor casting, I could not get it to stop leaking. Fortunately, I had a stake with a similar hose connection from a Rainbird lawn sprinkler that I was able to substitute. Without the ability to change the hose connection, I would have had to return the product. It dose change the behavior of deer with regular use. My hosta plants are untouched!

This product has a really good sensor. BUT it only has about a 20 degree spray of water, which means that the critter would have to come nearly straight at it before it would be sprayed. We are very sorry for this experience! Depending on the weather and environment, this product has a detection angle of approximately 75 degrees and will spray up to 60 feet. We recommend adjusting the spray coverage limiters to adjust the range covered by the sprinkler head.

since using the Critter Ridder I've have little or no issue with deer in my vegetable garden. The deer have moved on to the Hosta's and Other plants in front of the house. I do find some issues with the hand secured connections leaking. Also the electric eye is sometimes temperamental and it won't pick up something at a distance and at an angle. The batteries seem to wear out quicker than I would expect
Bought three of them. Hooked up hose and water is coming out the quick connect connection...duh... Why doesn't this come with a cap that blocks it when you are not using a quick connect?! I'm sure that cap would cost Havahart 3 cents to produce and include it in the package?! Rediculous!Response From Havahart®Jennifer : Consumer Relations Representative
Thank you for providing this feedback! We are sorry for this experience. If the Quick Connect Hose Adapter is not needed, simply unscrew it from the spike and attach the hose in the same location. The other side of the spike includes a cap to prevent leaking.
