Besides the temperament there are several physical characteristics you must examine to ensure a healthy puppy. Check the following: - Fur is shiny and soft
- Muscles are developed
- Feet should not be deformed
- Legs are straight
- Hairless pink belly
- Eyes are clear and bright
- Ears are pink with no odor or waxy discharge
- Skin should be free from sores
- Gums are pink and odor free
- Anal region is clean and dry
- Puppy should feel heavier than you expect when you pick him/her up.
