Training your dog requires time and consistency. Puppy training requires 10-15 minutes a day, several times a day. Always be consistent when training. For example, if you teach your dog to use the back door to be let out, always go to the back door. Don't send mixed signals by using different doors to go outside. Havahart® brings you the following tips to help you housebreak your dog: Preventing Dog Jumping
Since most dogs are shorter than you, their natural tendency is to jump up to see you. Train your dog not to jump on people. If you don’t mind your dog jumping on you, then train it to jump on you only when it’s okay. Try to anticipate the jumping: look for their hindquarters beginning to crouch down, and correct them when you see them about to jump. Some dogs will not respond to physical or verbal correction they just view this as play. Electronic training collars and/or proper use of a crate will facilitate teaching your dog not to jump. A training collar will facilitate teaching your dog not to jump if introduced properly. The Havahart® electronic dog training collar can assist with training your puppy right and wrong behaviors.
