| General Armadillo Facts There are over 20 species of Armadillos; only one species is found in the United States. Typically armadillos will cause the homeowner problems by digging or burrowing in the lawn or garden. When threatened, an armadillo will jump straight up in the air or it may also fall on it's side and curl up in a ball.
Geography
They are found mostly in the Central and South America. The nine-banded armadillo is is the only species found in North America. In the winter, they come out in the day to take advantage of the warmth of the sun.

Diet
Known for their armored shell, the prolific diggers use their sharp claws for digging dens for food such as grubs. Armadillos will eat a variety of food such as beetles, wasps, caterpillars, berries, and some freshwater fish.
Reproduction
Armadillos weigh anywhere from 8-17 pounds and will give birth to quadruplets in March to early April. Havahart® offers a variety of armadillo traps to help you with your armadillo control needs. |
